Die Hauptstadt des Landkreises ist Torrevieja ( ca. 83.000 Einwohner ). Sierras: Sierra Escalona, Sierra de Orihuela, Sierra de Callosa, Sierra de Hurchillo. Die historischen Ursprünge mit Funden menschlicher Überreste gehen 20.000 Jahre zurück.
