Guadalest Photos – Photo Gallery

El Castell de Guadalest, photos and pictures in the altea.me photo gallery: The small mountain community and their castle San Jose (they are only remainders) are each about 15 km away from Benidorm and Altea. Also over Altea la Vella an approach is possible – picturesque road – by the way. Guadalest belongs to the Marina Baixa. It is not far from Callosa d'en Sarria and surrounded by beautiful mountains. The Sierra d'Aixorta, the Sierra de Serella and the Sierra de Aitana. They are between 1000 and 1550 m high.

Guadalest has just over 200 inhabitants. It is relatively far away from the sea. But it is a tourist magnet. And rightly so! Because the views are bombastic. The reservoir and the castle are the trademarks. On the lake you can book boat tours. And there are an incredible number of sights. The small town of Guadalest is especially blessed with museums. Tourism seems to occupy and feed the whole population.

Attractions

There are surprisingly many small, but worth seeing museums – list in alphabetical order

  • Automobil- & Motorcycle Museum
  • Ethnological Museum
  • Cribs Museum Antonio Marco
  • Miniature museums
  • Museum of History
  • Ribera Girona – Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Torture museum
  • Townhouse of the Orduñas – City museum and access to the castle
  • Toy museum

Other attractions are the Town Hall and the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin (La Asunción de la Virgen).  Guadalest is definitely worth a visit. Already the journey into and through the mountains offers fantastic views. No matter where you come from. I personally like the route via Altea la Vella the best. It is optimal to arrive very early in the morning during the holiday season. Because during the holiday season there is really a lot going on from 11:00 a.m. at the latest. Those who don't have to go on holiday in July, August and September can also arrive later.
